  • 1 package instant yeast
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup melted salted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 44 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup apple butter
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • For frosting: cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit for 2-3 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add eggs, melted butter, and sugar; mix gently until combined.
  3. Stir in the salt and flour (starting with 4 cups). Let rest for 5 minutes.
  4. Knead the dough using a dough hook for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm area until doubled (about 30 minutes).
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread apple butter over it and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Roll tightly into a log; cut into twelve slices and arrange in a greased baking pan. Let rise again for about 20 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Pour warm heavy cream over rolls before baking for approximately 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare frosting by mixing cream cheese with butter until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar and cinnamon.
