  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 3/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (room temperature)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons reserved blueberry filling
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blueberry filling by mixing frozen blueberries, brown sugar, lemon juice, water, and cornstarch in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened.
  2. Make the dough by combining warm milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and instant yeast; let sit until foamy. Gradually add flour and knead until smooth.
  3. Allow the dough to rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Roll out the dough, spread blueberry filling evenly, roll tightly, and slice into individual rolls.
  5. Arrange rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise again for 30 minutes. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown.
  6. For the frosting, whip softened butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, reserved blueberry filling, and heavy cream until smooth. Frost warm rolls before serving.
