Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups frozen cherries
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 13 tbsp whole milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cherry filling by cooking frozen cherries with sugar, cold water, and corn starch until thickened; set aside to cool.
  2. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water with active dry yeast; let it froth for about 5 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine whole milk, granulated sugar, eggs, bread flour, salt, and activated yeast; knead until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the cherry filling, roll tightly, slice into rolls, and place in a greased baking dish.
  6. Let the rolls rise again for about 30 minutes before baking at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare the frosting by creaming butter and cream cheese; add powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
