  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 slices provolone cheese (4 for filling, 4 for topping)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté diced bell pepper and onion in olive oil for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  4. Press half of the meat mixture into a loaf pan to form the base.
  5. Layer four slices of provolone cheese over the base followed by the sautéed vegetables.
  6. Top with remaining meat mixture and gently press to seal.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes; add remaining provolone for the last five minutes.
  8. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
